Who we are
WHY WE EXIST
Created out of a frustration and realization that no one should have power to determine if anothers’ words are good or important enough to be heard, Un-Mute.com is an urban online literary magazine for the previously silenced.
So what does that mean? Un-mute was created as a place for urban writers to be highlighted, their work shared, and their thoughts and ideas presented to readers in a creative, diverse, insightful and “sometime serious, sometime witty” format to readers who are interested in writing and in content that is relevant to their lives.
WHAT WE OFFER
Each month literary artists across the nation and their work are highlighted in our featured section. In addition, Staff writers provide daily and weekly articles on what’s going on in the literary world, posts album reviews with an emphasis on “lyricism”, showcase their creative writing responses to world and local happenings, provide feature articles that focuses on stories and issues relevant to urban life, and much more. We also provide a means for readers to interact with writers and to the writing process and we expose readers to “literary based” opportunities and events around the world.
It is our mission that Un-Mute.com becomes an online community where information is shared, inspiration is spread, and a desire to write is sparked. We also endeavor to make Un-Mute.com an environment where writers are the rock stars and readers have a space to rock and roll in good ol’ literature.
